BIOAGRA has begun selling its own branded supplement for horses, EquiForce® containing Agrastim®.  EquiForce® is a supplement designed to enhance the horse’s immune system and maintain healthy joints.


EquiForce® has been specifically formulated to supply optimal levels of vitamins and minerals to meet the physiological needs of the equine athlete. Agrastim® (purified Beta_1,3/1,6_D glucan) has been consistently shown to maintain the immune system in horses at peak efficiency. An efficient immune system can aid in suppressing bacterial and viral infections, can aid in maintaining a healthy status, can increase stamina and increase resistance to stress so that the horse is much more active and energetic and will show greater endurance.

A recent five-month study performed at the Department of Veterinary Science at Fort Valley State University, confirms the effectiveness of EquiForce® containing Agrastim®.  (Please refer to correspondence following this section.)

The Effect of Agrastim® on Antibody Vaccine Titers in Horses: Horses were fed a control feed product or the same feed to which was added 50 grams/ton of Agrastim® supplied by MidSouth Feeds in Alma, Georgia. 

Prior to the start of the experiment, a blood cell count and the antibody titer for Rhinopneumonitis Virus were obtained. The tests were done at the Tifton Diagnostic Laboratory, Tifton, GA.  At the start of the trial, all horses in the study were vaccinated with a killed Rhinopneumonitis vaccine.  At two and four weeks, and at 2, 3 and 4 months after vaccination, antibody titers were again measured.

It is clearly evident that in those horses fed the feed containing Agrastim®  there is an increase in antibody titer that lasted for at least 4 months.  It is also important to note that the dose of Agrastim® is not very large; Agrastim® was added to the feed at a concentration of 50 grams/ton.
